India's defeat against Bangladesh in the next match could be fatal. If Afghanistan loses against Oman, India's job becomes easier but if Afghanistan win or draws, India will have to beat both Bangladesh and Afghans at all costs in their final match. If India draw their next match against Bangladesh, the Afghanistan match becomes a must-win. Both Bangladesh and Afghanistan are yet to play Oman, who sit comfortably at the second position in the table. Comparatively, India have better fixtures their Afghanistan and Bangladesh. The Indian team is guaranteed to finish third if it wins the remaining two matches of the campaign. The bottom three positions can take any form based on the results of the upcoming fixtures. India are only two points behind third-placed Afghanistan but ahead of 5th-placed Bangladesh by one point. The difference between the three teams isn't much at the moment. India are next set to face Bangladesh on June 07 before taking on Afghanistan in their final qualifier on June 15. The remaining two matches of the campaign, hence, hold huge importance for the team. A third-place finish in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers will earn them direct entry into the Asian Cup though a fourth-place finish could also be enough. While the hopes of qualifying for the World Cup are over, India are still in the running for the Asian Cup qualification.
